Outlook 2007

Outlook 2007 has many advantages when it is connected with Exchange 2007.
Exchange Server 2007 offers many new features: improved support for calendaring, unified messaging, fast and accurate search, etc. Outlook 2007 offers support for these new Exchange Server features. Using Outlook 2007 with Exchange 2003 will not benefit the end-users.
It is recommended to upgrade to Outlook 2007 before upgrading to the new Exchange version.

The improved version of Outlook includes:

• New user interface
• Autodiscover service (ability to find the mail server)
• Instant search - fully integrated
• To-Do bar to easily manage information
• Scheduling meeting is improved
• Scheduling and customizing Out of Office message for internal and external contacts
• Managing shared information, interaction with documents stored in SharePoint
• Receiving e-mail, voice mail and faxes in one plane when using the unified messaging role server

Windows Mobile

Windows Mobile 6 helps the users to work more efficiently. With Windows Mobile 6, we are always connected to the office; E-mail is always synchronized with the push mail technology and it is the only solution that offers the possibility to work from the device on the Office applications. Application enhancements in Windows Mobile 6 with Exchange 2007 include:

• Support for HTML e-mail
• Out of Office Assistant
• Search in the Exchange server mailbox
• Improved calendar views and meeting attendee tracking
• Access SharePoint Document from e-mail links
• Search for contacts in the Exchange server Address Book.

In addition, we can use the PointSec software for the Pocket PC to increase the security and encrypt the entire device, including the external card. This software allows us to use the phone of the device without entering a password.

OWA 2007

Outlook Web Access

Exchange 2007 contains a new and improved version of OWA. Outlook Web Access, using Windows Internet Explorer 6.0 and newer versions, has a new user interface called the Premium Client. This new interface is similar in features and functionality to the UI of the full Outlook 2007 product. The Outlook Web Access UI now includes these added features:

• New logon page: Simplifies the choosing process of which Outlook Web Access client version should be used, Premium or Light.
  Flexible Message Views: We can select how the message list is displayed, the position of the Reading Pane, and configure multiple grouping and sorting options.
  Improved Notifications: Reminders and new mail notifications appear within the Outlook Web Access window and can be accessed through the use of a drop down menu in the toolbar.
  Scheduling Assistant: The Scheduling Assistant is very helpful to schedule meetings with co-workers.
  File Share Access: Access documents and document libraries on Windows SharePoint Services and Windows file shares through Outlook Web Access, with an ISA server configuration (Without VPN!)
  Voice Mail Options: If the Unified Messaging server role is installed in the organization, we can use Outlook Web Access to manage the voice mail options; configure the telephone access options or reset the voice mail password.
• Auto-complete: e-mail address selection
• More right-click properties
• Completely redesigned calendar with "smart" scheduling for appointments
• Out of Office Assistant that can expire after a certain amount of time
• Search all folders and items
• Access to Global Address Lists properties sheets within an e-mail message or meeting request; message sensitivity settings on the information bar;
• Calendaring: forward/reply to meeting requests, ability to launch the calendar in its own window from a meeting request, which provides the ability to evaluate and schedule meeting request at the same time.

High Availability for Hub Transport Servers

By default, connections to Hub Transport servers are automatically load balanced if more than one Hub Transport server is deployed in an Active Directory site. If one Hub Transport server is unavailable, the operational Hub Transport servers continue to accept connections. If all Hub Transport servers in an Active Directory site are unavailable, messages are queued until a Hub Transport server becomes available or the messages expire.
Load balancing of outbound connections to remote domains is achieved by specifying more than one Hub Transport server in the same Active Directory site as a source server for the Send connector. Load balancing does not occur when the source servers for a Send connector are located in different Active Directory sites.
Note:
If the Hub Transport server is installed on the same hardware as the Mailbox server role, load balancing may not occur. When the Hub Transport server role is on the same hardware as the Mailbox server role, the local server is preferred for all messages that are sent by users who have mailboxes on that server. Therefore, in this scenario, true load balancing does not occur.

You cannot install the Hub Transport server role on the same hardware as the Mailbox server role when the Mailbox server role is deployed in a cluster.
However, we support deployment of the Hub Transport server role on the same hardware as the Client Access server role.

New in Exchange 2007 Service Pack 1
Exchange 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) supports the use of Network Load Balancing (NLB) to achieve high availability for specific types of connections to the Hub Transport server role. NLB can be used to provide high availability in the following scenarios:
Load balancing of inbound SMTP connections for POP and IMAP client connections to the default Receive connector named "Client " that is created only on Hub Transport servers.
Load balancing of inbound SMTP connections for applications that submit e-mail to the Exchange organization.
NLB should not be used to distribute connections for internal routing between Hub Transport servers.
NLB is a good high availability option for both the Hub Transport server role and the Client Access server role when the Mailbox server role is deployed in a cluster.
